ABOUT ME
My interest in counselling started after I began a six month placement working with clients suffering from ME ( chronic fatigue syndrome) MS (multiple sclerosis) Fibromyalgia, Cancer, Depression and those suffering from Terminal Illness. Whilst these clients physical needs were well taken care of, it became apparent that there was very little in the way of extra support for psychological Issues.
After my placement ended I starting work as a school nurse, working closely with a school counsellor at a secondary school, and
started a three year counselling course which incorporated CBT, Person Centred and Psychodynamic Theories.
In 2007 I moved to Hampshire from Oxford after a close family member developed Motor Neurone Disease. The experience of bereavement, caring and working with a terminally ill family member has enhanced my understanding and therefore enabled me to have greater empathy with clients I work with. I resumed my studies again in Bournemouth choosing to study Integrative Counselling and completed my Diploma in 2014
l work both holistically and integratively with different methods and theories tailored to suit, as I believe we are all unique with individual needs
I am passonate about positive psychology and have always felt my clients wanted more from me in regards to moving forward after counselling I decided to train as a life coach wiich I completed in 2018. I know tend to use a fusion of both skills to suit clients needs.
I work from home in a pleasent comfortable room just away from the house in Barton On Sea.
l belong to the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and therefore adhere to their strict code of ethics and conduct. This requires me to attend regular supervision and continue with my professional development.
